Cedros Fishing Report 🎣🐟
Week of August 8–11 (Fri–Mon)
Esvin’s Family Trip

Our 2025 family trip to Cedros was one to remember!
🎣 Fishing Highlights
- Halibut: Outstanding action on both artificials and live bait.
- Sheephead: A big hit with the kids — they pulled in multiple 10–15 lb sheephead straight out of the kelp on plastics and artificials.
- White Seabass: A fun afternoon flurry in the kelp on white plastics.
- Yellowtail: Steady bite throughout the trip, keeping everyone busy.
- Tackle Tip: 50–65 lb braid with a 40 lb topshot worked perfectly in the kelp.
🏡 Family & Lodge Experience
What stood out most was how the Cedros staff went above and beyond to make sure the kids were comfortable and happy. When they noticed Esvin’s son wasn’t touching his eggs and bacon, the kitchen made him pancakes just for him — and later packed him his own special lunches. He also became known as the “popcorn junkie,” enjoying his afternoon snack while sitting by the ocean at sunset, while the rest of the family savored sashimi.
Carmen, one of the lodge staff, even went into town after chatting with Esvin’s daughter about her breakfast preferences. She came back with drinkable yogurts so the girl could have something she truly enjoyed each morning. Those little touches made all the difference.
Esvin especially appreciated that we mark and label every fish with the species and the boat it came from. Clients also pack their own fish, so they get to decide exactly how it’s done.
💬 Overall
Great fishing, great food, and above all — a team that treated the kids like family. This was more than just a fishing trip; it was an adventure filled with thoughtful moments and memories that will last a lifetime.
