Cedros Outdoor Adventures 2025 Season Recap
The 2025 fishing season has officially come to a close, and what a season it was! As we wind down and prepare for 2026, we want to take a moment to thank everyone who joined us this year and share some highlights from another unforgettable summer at Cedros Island — the Yellowtail Capital.
🌊 Season Highlights
Fishing was nothing short of fantastic from July through October. Daily yellowtail action kept the rods bending all season long, with plenty of bonitas and calicos mixed in. Most boats reached their yellowtail limits with ease — proof once again that Cedros delivers some of the best sportfishing in Baja.
Early in the season, halibut were abundant, and we had several weeks with easy limits of white seabass. While the seabass stuck around all season, their numbers came and went. Just before we wrapped up, a few dorado made an appearance — not quite as many as in past years, but that’s fishing — every season has its surprises!
☀️ Perfect Weather, Perfect Days
This year’s weather couldn’t have been better — we didn’t have to cancel a single day on the water! Despite what the forecasts and apps predicted, our 17 years of experience at Cedros once again proved that the island’s high mountains protect us from strong winds, always leaving us with calm, fishable areas — often right where the bite is best.
⚓ Life on the Island
Operating in such a remote location, which is also an island, always comes with its challenges, and we truly appreciate your understanding. Cedros isn’t a polished tourist destination like Cabo, with endless services and products — but that’s exactly what makes it special. We do our best to manage the logistics behind the scenes so you can focus on the fishing… even if you caught me looking a bit stressed now and then!
🐟 A Protected Paradise
As a marine biologist, I feel incredibly lucky to witness firsthand how the Natural Protected Area status of Cedros Island continues to preserve its ecosystem. Before protection, seiners and shrimp trawlers devastated these waters, as they’ve done elsewhere in Baja. Knowing that this fishery will remain healthy for generations to come is truly rewarding. Catching and releasing of slow growth calicos, grouper and black seabass is for the ethical angler who respects the sport, and inderstand the intrinsic value of these species.
